Jane Pedersen on the Cardboard Box Tower
In 1967 Poul Gernes exhibited a sculpture The Tower, which was about 6-7 m high. It was made after he had made his series of small and large sculptures in simple geometric shapes. It was as if in The Tower he summed up all these forms, drove them to the extreme by simply placing them on top of each other in a tower-like shape. The material was cardboard from cardboard boxes, and it was all painted in the same gray color.
