The MagnaPrint Series consists of republications of Danish and translated literature in a reader-friendly concept for people with visual impairment. It is published by Nyt Dansk Litteraturselskab, originally in collaboration with Borgens Forlag. The flower on the cover was drawn by Poul Gernes in 1971-2. For MagnaPrint books 1-499 the flower was the only illustration on the front cover.
From 1978 the back cover featured a portrait of the author, drawn by Poul Gernes.
The colour scheme varied from book to book, and after Poul Gernes’ death, the colours for each title were chosen by Aase Gernes up until 2003. From MagnaPrint title 500, the covers carry different illustrations, but the flower is still included on front and back.
Klara Karolines Fond has donated all the artists’ free copies, drawings and other material relating to the MagnaPrint Series to Kunsten Museum of Modern Art in Aalborg.
