Finn Thybo Andersen on Otto Nielsen's Packing Factory
The chimneys are salmon-coloured and light green. Heating units are yellow. In the changing rooms, pink wash basins are set in blue tables. Fire alarm boxes are purple, and the revolving door into this colour symphony is pink and turquoise. The factory’s architect, Uffe Henriksen chose to work with Gernes from the outset. The original idea was an exterior colour scheme so the gentle colours would help the construction melt into the landscape. But they continued to the indoors where the colour scheme created light and space. In the high-ceilinged canteen the walls had yellow fields, which made the light pour into the room with the pastel-coloured chairs.
