Lille Grundet Housing Cooperative communal house
The residential houses are built on an old agricultural property, and the communal house is the original main building. It was decorated two years after the newly built residences. The exterior colour scheme was designed before the Palads Cinema. Inside the staircase and halls were decorated, and a total of twenty-one colours were used for eight doors.
Resident Ida Arndtzen recalls:
"I remember how Poul Gernes stood there. He said, ‘Oh, Aase, you' have to help me, because now we have god knows how many colours, especially for the doors. You've got to help me, Aase, for you know I'm really colour-blind, and we just have to make these colours play together.’ Then they walked around and chatted about it. And the students from the Fine Arts Academy started on the decorations. So, there were probably forty paint pots in this small area. If you ask what we would do, if we had to repaint, I have no idea!"
