Finn Thybo Andersen on the starry ceiling
The starry ceiling is a unique innovation in Gernes’ world of motifs, created specifically for this place with the stars of the Milky Way as its starting point. School principal Birgitte Kann Rasmussen helped Poul and Aase paint the ceiling together with teachers Jørgen Bedsted and Peter Lissau. She recalls that Gernes did a lot of experiments with the blue colour to ensure that it would not appear black, even in faint evening light.
