Finn Thybo Andersen on the Heart Centre and Cardiological Department

It is interesting to compare this decoration at Rigshospitalet from 1995 with the decoration of Herlev Hospital, completed in 1976. These two hospital decorations were done with a twenty-year gap at the beginning and end of the artist’s decorating career. There is an almost unbridled, luxurious ambience here at Rigshospitalet’s 14th floor.

It is fun to follow decoration playfully winding around doors and installations. Here are also examples of the way in which a frieze always starts from both ends with a half figure, and when the motifs don’t meet in the middle, a small dot fills the space.
